Argumentation requires that you move a person from one premise to another — usually gently.  As we do marketing, you have to ask yourselve the questions that lie beneath the questions: you have to ask Level 1 (“What do you buy?") with Level 2 (“Why do you buy it?") and Level 3 (“What does this say about you and your clan?”) in the back of your mind.    For this exercise, then, don’t just respond according to your personal view; think about the primary issue surrounding both these texts:

What Makes Us Happy?

Then, using a They Say/I Say template, write a paragraph that discusses where all our basic arguments start.  Answer the following prompt using your voice in response to the other two:

“If happiness is an illusion, then . . .?”
