Nothing helps a writer more than catching a reader’s attention. In this exercise, a warm-up for the synthesis essay, you will be asked to read a story and two articles; after reading, you will be charged to keep my attention through a creative exercise. After reading Bartleby the Scrivener, read two more:
Then, exercising creativity again, start a Microscopic Introduction starting with the sentence: “I see the ghost sitting there . . .” Use the abstract ideas from within these three stories to describe the Literary Ghost — the person who has been consumed by their surrounding.
- What consumes them?
- Where are they present in this world?
- In what kind of places do they dwell?
