Rhetorical Distance:

Up to this point, you have written about subjects assigned to you, which demands you think on your toes.  This assignment requires you to think through a subject that you know well: Faith!

Below, you will see the pattern for the Classical Rhetorical Argument.  Using that pattern, write an argument answering the following prompt:

In order to do this, you will need to think about who you are trying to convince.  In order to frame the discussion, read the following argument: 5 Reasons I Don’t Believe in God (this will be your opposing voice).

Between you and them, there will be rhetorical distance — or, space between your understanding and the person you are trying to persuade.  In order to accomplish this, you will need to think about your strategy and your use of rhetorical modes.  Though this does not need to be an entire essay (more of a thoughtful letter), you will need to figure out a way to make your argument successful following the pattern below:

You want this to be conversational and friendly (tone), and you want to invite the other person into the Proposition.  You have to make some choices: do you want to persuade them (argument), fight them (polemic), or discuss with them (didactic).  Each requires a different to and strategy.  See what you can do.
