Discovering Worlds Past and Present
To gain some perspective on watching a film, look at some of the tricks a director will use to project himself into the story. If you think about walking the hallways of school, everything is done pretty much at eye level with everything in focus. When watching a movie, everything is intentional
Look at the pictures to the right (Snatch, Inglorious Basterds, High Noon). Each of these tells a story. What is that story? You tell me. Look at them closely and ask yourself three questions:
- If you are in this scene why are you where you are?
- If you are the character in the scene, how are you feeling right about now?
- If you are a director, what will your next shot be, and why?
In the contact form below, write your answer to these three questions and give a 25 word explanation of how angles help to tell a story.
